May 30, 2022. My dream of traveling the world, soaking up the various cultures and photographing and painting all the beauty that is out there is finally a reality.
My plane leaves on Wednesday, June 8 and I’ve got my ‘ticket to ride’ AKA my French Visa. I plan to settle in a little town in the French Alsace region called Huningue that sits at a point where France, Germany and Switzerland join on the Rhine. One of the exciting features of this little known town is the Three Countries Bridge, which is an arch bridge that crosses the Rhine between the commune of Huningue and Weil am Rhein, within the Basel metropolitan area. It is the world’s longest single-span bridge dedicated exclusively to carrying pedestrians and cyclists.*
The location is close to the Basel EuroAirport and the SBB train station in Basel, which makes for easy transportation to wherever my camera and sketchbooks lead me.
Keep checking back for updates, photos and maybe a few paintings. I will post my locations in the ‘Events’ page. Join me if you are anywhere nearby.
See you soon…I have a plane to catch. ~ JoAnn
